MEDscience Moonshot offers a one-of-a-kind deep tech immersion experience for high school students interested in biomedical engineering, computer science and medicine to prototype their own AI surgical robots to solve complex medical problems.

Join the Moonshot Program to build cutting edge solutions to current medical technology problems. Students will learn the design thinking process and present their prototypes to industry professionals throughout the program. Students will be exposed to computer science, artificial intelligence, surgical robotics, and engineering to arm them with the skills of the future.

Moonshot
Foundations

Foundations is a one-of-a-kind introduction to many fields: robotics, biomedical engineering, surgery, computer science, and sports medicine. This one-week program is for students who are interested in exposure to the medical technology and/or sports medicine spaces, and who want to work in teams to build innovative surgical robots that can improve upon existing technologies. Students will be introduced to curriculum covered in AP Physics in a fun and accessible way. Each robot will face several design challenges - including an AI challenge - and will be presented to industry professionals at the end of the week. Students should be in grades 9-12 at time of application.

Program Highlights

  • Fill the role that excites you! Whether you are interested in computer science or business, there is a role for you on the team. Some will need to build the robot, while others will need to design the promotional video and the pitch to investors. All roles are vital to the team’s success!

  • Experience the real-life excitement of diagnosing complex medical conditions in our high-tech simulation lab, treating STAN, our life-like interactive patient. Learn sophisticated medical concepts around oncology, pathology, and surgery, to understand some of the biggest healthcare problems that challenge doctors today.

  • Learn about Moonshot thinking and the biodesign process: prototype innovative solutions to complex healthcare problems as you build your Kepler AI surgical robot. Unleash your creativity and think outside the box – while putting your engineering and medical skills to the test.

  • Each module targets the trickiest topics in AP Physics, teaching these concepts in an accessible and fun way that will support their learning

  • Learn alongside top healthcare and research professionals in surgery, oncology, medical devices, AI, biotech, and digital health, while receiving expert feedback on your Moonshot solutions. You will showcase your final solution to medical experts in a live demo day.
